At My Dental and Implants of the Litchfield Park, Arizona community, new and returning patients concerned about discomfort during their upcoming dental appointment need to fear no more! Dr. Nima Afzalian and his team encourage patients looking for a dentist for nervous patients “near me” to connect with him at the office to learn about the various solutions to sedation dentistry.
What is sedation dentistry?
Dr. Nima Afzalian of My Dental and Implants describes sedation dentistry as a way of ensuring nervous patients are comfortable during their dental care treatments performed in the dentist’s chair. Our team provides three primary methods of sedation to consider, including the following:
- Oral conscious sedation. Oral conscious sedation is one way for patients to enjoy the advantages of quality care without anxiety. Patients take a prescribed medication prior to arriving at the dental office. They come into our office calm and relaxed and can get through their appointment without anxiety or fear
- Nitrous oxide. A fast and effective way of helping those with mild anxieties is with nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas.” This odorless, colorless gas is administered to the patient through the nose and can provide almost instant relaxation. Nitrous oxide is often the first choice for many of our nervous patients
- IV sedation. IV sedation is best for those with severe anxieties as it offers a sedative directly into the bloodstream for fast-acting results. Many patients will rest with IV sedation as Dr. Nima Afzalian performs the necessary services. This method is often recommended if nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation is not strong enough to ensure our patients are comfortable during their upcoming dental services
